Semi Private Boat Trip to Macherida Beach & Theodorou Island

General Information

Macherida Beach is a small, hidden gem located near the village of Chorafakia on the Akrotiri peninsula, just a short drive from Chania. This secluded cove is known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, soft white sand, and peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for those seeking tranquility away from the crowds. Surrounded by rocky cliffs and untouched nature, Macherida offers ideal conditions for swimming and snorkeling. Its remote feel and natural beauty make it popular with locals and visitors looking for a quiet, unspoiled beach experience. While there are no organized facilities, its charm lies in its raw, untouched character.

Agioi Theodoroi (commonly known as Thodorou) is a small, uninhabited island located just off the northern coast of Crete, near the tourist resorts of Agia Marina and Platanias. The island, along with its smaller islet companion Glaraki, is named after a now-ruined church dedicated to Saint Theodore. Thodorou holds both historical and ecological significance: during the Venetian era, fortifications were built on the island to defend against pirates, the remnants of which still stand today. In the 20th century, the island was declared a protected nature reserve to help preserve the endangered Cretan wild goat (kri-kri), which was introduced there to thrive in isolation. Although public access is generally restricted to protect its fragile environment, visitors can admire the island from the mainland or through boat tours that pass nearby. Once a year, during the feast of Saint Theodore, limited access is allowed for a religious service held on the island.
