Sirikari Village
Sirikari Village is located 55 Km west of Chania and 17 km south of Kissamos, in a lush green area with Gorges and water streams. Its said that its name derives from the Byzantine surname Sirikarius, which means the one who weaves silk textures or the one who works with silk.
The gorge
From here begins the beautiful gorge of Sirikari leading to the settlement of Polirinia, where the ancient town of Polirinia was built. The path is on medium difficulty level and it is an activity recommended by the locals. You will enjoy a pretty and peaceful gorge walking through a forest of tall chestnuts, small waterfalls and gurgling streams. The vegetation inside the gorge and the surrounding area thrives with many herbs and trees. Moreover, it is worth visiting the A 15th century byzantine Church of Holy Apostles which is located in the gorge.
